Srinagar, Apr 01 (KNO): Anticipating a surge in traffic ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, Srinagar traffic police are gearing up to recalibrate their deployment across the city. A senior traffic police officer told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that they expect an increase in traffic volume on Srinagar roads ahead of Eid -Ul-Fitr, and urged responsible parking behaviour from motorists to utilise designated parking areas rather than obstructing vehicular movement on roads. “There is no doubt that traffic load will increase on Srinagar roads. We expect good behaviour from motorists and they should park their vehicles in parkings, not on roads,” the senior officer said. The officer said that in preparation for the anticipated traffic rush, particularly around the city center, traffic police were in process of strategizing their deployments too to ensure smooth and hassle-free commuting experiences. “As Eid-ul-Fitr draws near, efforts are underway to facilitate safe and efficient traffic management in Srinagar. Traffic police's proactive measures aim to maintain order and safety on Srinagar's roads during this busy period,” the officer added. Notably, the last 10 days of the holy month of Ramadan traditionally sees increased footfall of shoppers purchasing items including clothing, groceries, bakery goods, mutton and other household items—(KNO)
